On behalf of the OR Society Executive Committee, may I take this opportunity to extend our best wishes to you and your families.
Although circumstances have dictated that 2020 has not provided the opportunity for the OR Society to engage with ORs in the manner in which we had intended, or to celebrate the 50th anniversary of girls attending Repton as had been planned, as part of the Repton community, we have continued to try and adapt, inform and develop relations across the OR community. To this end, we are extremely grateful for your continued support and enthusiasm during these unprecedented times, and wanted to provide an update with regards scheduled events for the remainder of 2020.
OR Day 5th & 6th September:
As many of you will recall, we highlighted in February our intention to host a 'bumper' reunion across the weekend of 5th & 6th September, by combining the traditions of both The Gaudy (now moved from May 2020) and OR Football Day. Whilst the OR office have continued to work tirelessly to plan and deliver a memorable event, giving themselves as much time as reasonable to remain committed to doing so, the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the Coronavirus global pandemic, has meant that this has simply become unviable. As such, and with tremendous regret and a collective inevitable frustration we are left with no alternative but to postpone our inaugural OR Day until 2021.
Sports Night 15th October:
Having spoken to Queens Club and received confirmation of potential numbers permitted in light of social distancing, coupled with any confirmed decisions on how they are running external events not being available until October 1st, it has been decided to reschedule the Sports Night for a similar date in October 2021. More to follow in due course.
OR Annual Dinner 7th November:
With regards to our annual dinner in November, we will continue to review govt. guidelines and keep ORs informed, with a view to making a final decision in late August / early September when we have greater clarity on how the school will be operating during the Michaelmas Term.
Whilst these remain challenging times, and we are unable at this stage to host OR events as we would wish, we remain excited by developments in the OR office, and feel there is much to remain positive about going forward.
With best wishes,
Nick Walford - Chairman OR Society
