I hope you are keeping safe and well in this exceptional time.
You will not be surprised to hear that the decision has been taken to cancel the Cricketer Cup in 2020. This decision has become increasingly inevitable but the key recent factors include: the ECB's ruling that there would be no professional cricket before 1 July and no recreational cricket until further notice; the timings of the competition which needs three rounds in June; and the increasing evidence that some schools are preparing for a 'no cricket this summer scenario' with work on grounds and squares being stopped.
We need to look forward with hope to 2021 and it is the Cricketer Cup committee’s intention to do all possible to arrange for the 2021 Cricketer Cup to take place in its usual format, with invitations sent to clubs to participate and the draw made in accordance with the rules.
Let us hope that some cricket will eventually be possible this year for both school and alumni teams.
Stay safe, and in the words of Churchill, KBO! (Keep Buggering On!)
